In order to promote a successful, caring and respectful environment the students and staff in our classroom have developed the following expectations and have agreed to model them consistently:
Treat others as you would like to be treated
Respect others
Listen actively
Work quietly without disturbing others
Treat school and other students' property with care
Consequences:
Student will receive a verbal warning
Student will receive a second warning and be asked to flip his/her card on the board.
Student will be asked to flip his/her card on the chart or to write his/her name on the board and will be asked to a Thinker Slip in the back of the room. This will be signed by the student and teacher and taken home to be signed by the parent and returned the next day.
The student will be asked to call his/her parent with teacher supervision and explain the circumstances for the call. The student may also be receiving a Communication Slip.
These "rules to live by" when consistently followed by all will help to ensure that our classroom is an optimal place for learning. Our class has defined these expectations and has agreed to model them and notice others' use of them on a daily basis. This will allow students to see which behaviors contribute to a successful life both in and out of the classroom.
